The Land and Development Office is an attached office that was formalized following Delhi’s designation as the capital of India. Initially part of the Imperial Delhi Estate, It expanded in 1958 with the integration of Nazul lands and came under the Ministry of Urban Development (now MoHUA) in 1959. It manages leasehold properties owned by the Government of India, oversees land allotments to government and public institutions, and handles processes like mutation, substitution, and conversion of leasehold to freehold. It plays a vital role in urban planning and land monetization in Delhi, ensuring efficient land use and sustainable development.
